Havana says Cuba and the U.S. will meet next week for a third round of talks. A senior foreign affairs official briefed the media Thursday.

Gustavo Machin is the deputy director for U.S. affairs. He said a bilateral commission will meet next Monday in Havana. The meeting will focus on progress made and new cooperation. Many differences remain.

Machin said negotiations on multi-billion-dollar claims against one another have not started. He expressed concerns over normalization of banking relations, because now all bilateral transactions must go through banks in third countries.

Machin also said the normalization of flights would depend on the U.S. And he expressed the hope the next U.S. President would respect the demands of the American people.
