The UN Security Council held a meeting Monday to discuss issues on Kosovo. China's deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Wu Haitao said that Beijing supports Kosovo and Serbia to continue their dialogue and to promote national reconciliation.
Zahir Tanin, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General, praised the conciliatory messages and visions presented by Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic [Alexander Vu-chich] of Serbia and President Hashim Thaci [Ha-seem Tha-chi] of Kosovo. Wu said that China appreciated the Serbian government's positive efforts. He also said that China welcomed the high-level political dialogue between the two. The overall security situation in Kosovo is stable, however political tensions have led to conflicts including violent protests and destruction of property.
