China has made major progress in its self-developed chips on the Beidou Satellite Navigation System.

China's Unicore Communications presented its 40-nanometer navigation module at the 2016 Satellite Navigation Conference in Changsha. The module can be used in multi-system, multi-frequency, high-precision global satellite navigation. Due to its small size, it can also be mounted to light robots, unmanned aerial vehicles and intelligent self-driving cars. China has boasted independent intellectual property rights for these chips, and state guidelines for the industry has prioritized breakthroughs in key technologies, especially in chip-making.
