The yuan eased against the dollar on Thursday to a three month low. That came after the central bank fixed the softest midpoint in 16 weeks as the U.S. Fed signalled a possible rate hike in June.

The midpoint was set at 6.5531 per dollar, 0.48 percent weaker than the previous fix. Onshore yuan closed at 6.5440, 13 percentage points lower than the previous close. The US Fed's hawkish April meeting minutes pushed the dollar up against a basket of global currencies. Experts believe the pressure on the yuan will likely increase going forward.
