Solar Impulse plane arrives at Dayton, Ohio

05-22-2016 11:31 BJT

The Swiss-made Solar Impulse 2 plane has arrived at Dayton in Ohio State on Saturday, also known as the hometown of the Wright  brothers.

It took off from the US state of Oklahoma. The plane was flying at between 55 and 100 kilometers per hour. The  flight lasted about 16 hours and 34 minutes.

The globe-circling voyage of the plane began in March last year when it took off from Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. It has since made stops in Oman, Myanmar, China and Japan. It was then forced to stay in Oahu, Hawaii, for nine months after the plane's battery system sustained heat damage. The journey didn't resume until April this year.
