'Remarkable' development of China-India trade

According to Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, in the last decade, the development of China-India trade has been 'remarkable'. Since 2000, the China-India trade value has increased by 20 times, from US$2.9 billion to US$71 billion.

At the same time, he emphasized that there are great potentials in the areas of bilateral trade, investment and economic cooperation. A representative of the Indian Ministry of Industry and Trade said in 2015, the export value from China to India was about US$58.3 billion, while the value from India to China dropped to about US$13.4 billion. The trade deficit between the two countries amounted to about US$44.9 billion in that year.
