Chinese peacekeepers in Lebanon recently helped renovate a local primary school. The Al-majadel Primary School in the city of Tyre has more than 500 students. It was built after the Lebanon-Israel war in 2006 by the United Nations interim force in the country.

But after a decade, the building had deteriorated significantly. The Chinese peacekeepers began the renovation work at the start of May. They also spent time with the students teaching them Chinese, and telling them stories about Confucius and Lei Feng.

"We really want to thank them. The great Chinese people are very hardworking, and the Chinese soldiers are tenacious, modest and gentle. We think they have done a very good job," said Bob, headmaster of Al-Majadel primary school.
