China has launched a new civilian high-resolution mapping satellite from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in the northern Shanxi Province.
The center says the Ziyuan Three 0-2 satellite was carried on a Long March 4B rocket at 11:17 a.m on March 30th. Beijing time. Also on board are two NewSat satellites. All three satellites have now entered preset orbits.
Ziyuan Three 0-2 will be used in land resources surveys, natural disaster prevention, agricultural development, water resources management and urban planning. It is the second satellite in a remote-sensing mapping system China plans to build by 2030.
