China's weather bureau is warning people living in southern China to brace for heavy rainstorms over the next three days.

The bureau says the areas to be affected by torrential rains and even hailstones include southwestern and southern provinces, as well as regions along the Huaihe and Yangtze rivers. Up to 130 millimeters of rain is expected in some areas of Shanghai, Sichuan province, and some cities in north and central China.

Authorities are told to be on alert for any possible rain-triggered disasters such as flash floods and landslides.

Last week, rainstorms battered southern parts of China, displacing more than 27,000 people in Hunan Province and more than 40,000 in Guangdong province.
