Switzerland for volleyball and the Montreux Volley Masters. China is competing with a team made up of new and old players and they faced a young squad from Brazil in their opener. And the world champions China would not have much trouble as Hui Ruoqi and Gong Xiangyu both turned in great performances.

Assistant coach An Jiajie would be in charge of the Chinese for this match. Top players Hui, Wei Qiuyue and Yang Junjing were focused and ready to go. They have been bothered by injuries recently and their team for the Rio Summer Olympics has not been confirmed yet. So this match was a test of their recovery.

China are leading 4-2 in the first set when the spike off a Brazilian blocker makes it 5-2.  And it's soon 7-4 for the PRC ladies off a sneaky attack as China takes control.

But Brazil keep it competitive and this spike makes it 20-17 China. On set point, Brazil can't control the serve despite the attempt to kick the ball that ends rather awkwardly and China takes it 25-20.

Brazil would be more competitive in the second and tie it up at 9-all.  But the South Americans would be unable to handle China's power as the PRC pulls away. And China would wrap up the second set 25-17 after consecutive points from Gong Xiangyu. In the third, Brazil would get off to a good start and actually take the lead when the return goes wide.

But China would come back and earn match point with this bit of finesse over the blockers.

And the Chinese would close it out 25-22 to sweep Brazil three sets to none. A great beginning for the PRC who will take on Turkey later today.
