The recent bout of heavy rainfall has led to serious flooding on various rivers across China.

In Jiujiang, Jiangxi Province, heavy rain has waterlogged areas of the city, with cars and the first storeys of residential buildings totally submerged. Firefighters have used kayaks to rescue people from rising flood water.

The Yangtze River's water level in Chongqing Municipality in the Wanzhou District reached 148 meters on Friday. Several roads have been closed and more than 380,000 residents have been affected.

Water flowing into China's Three Gorges reservoir reached 25,000 cubic meters per second on Thursday afternoon, a record high since 1992.
