For football we move from France, the country which will host Euro 2016, to neighboring Germany, whose national team's final tune-up before that tournament would take place against Hungary.

The reigning World Cup champions suffered a shocking loss to Slovakia last week, their fourth defeat in five friendlies, and Thomas Mueller wanted to make sure Die Mannschaft weren't in for anymore surprises at Schalke's Veltins Arena.

The home side hoping to add the continental crown to their world title when Euro 2016 kicks off a few days from now.

In the 11th minute, Mueller tries to put the Germans in front, but his shot is denied by the fingertips of the keeper, Gabor Kiraly.

Three minutes later, Balazs Dzsudzsak would be denied by Manuel Neuer, and Adam Szalai is whistled offside on his follow-up attempt.

In the 39th, Jonas Hector's pass to Mario Goetze deflects in off Adam Lang, and the own-goal gives Germany a 1-NIL lead. You see the ball just catching Lang's ankle on the replay.

In the 63rd minute, Jerome Boateng crosses to Mario Gomez, whose header is parried by Kiraly -- but right at Mueller, who buries the rebound. Great save by the Magyars keeper, but only momentarily. Die Mannschaft win 2-NIL, and the World Cup champions are heading to France on a high note.

In other friendlies, the Euro 2016 hosts defeated Scotland 3-NIL, led by two goals from Olivier Giroud, and another from Laurent Koscielny. Croatia crushed San Marino 10-NIL, paced by a hat-trick from Mario Mandzukic. Australia edged Greece, the Netherlands topped Austria, and Ivory Coast beat Gabon.
