Deepening the cooperation on trade, investment, and infrastructure connectivity has been the focus of the 6th China-EU High-Level Strategic Dialogue.

The European Union is China's biggest source of imports ...  with trade over one billion euros or 1.25 billion US dollars a day.

Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi says the European Union is not only a economic partner but also a conductor to global peace, stability, and economic recovery.

Yang said both sides expect to accelerate negotiations on bilateral investment agreements ... and that's to further the cooperation on political security, technology innovation, maritime economy, ocean technology, and cultural tourism.

"China has agreed that the meeting for Asian-European leaders is an important platform to facilitate cooperation between the two continents, and push forward the steady development of world peace. China stands ready to work together with the EU and other European and Asian countries to carry out the results being made out of the meeting scheduled in Mongolia," Yang said.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini called China a key cooperative partner of the EU. She also praised Beijing's constructive role in coping with global and regional challenges.

The two sides have been developing their bilateral ties from a strategic height and long-term perspective, as an example of a new type of international relations that focuses on win-win cooperation.

"Let me conclude by saying that the European Union fully supports China's presidency of the G20 this year, when it comes to China taking a strong lead to implement the global agenda we have in front of us, being at the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development as well as the Paris Agreement on climate change, or the need to work on economic growth worldwide. China is a key partner in both delivering climate action and implementing the sustainable development goals and can play a crucial role in the Security Council," said Mogherini.

China and the EU have agreed to push for the implementation of the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

They also exchanged opinions on a series of international and regional issues, including the nuclear disputes in Iran and the DPRK, and the conflicts in Syria and Iraq.

Yang also met with Belgium's prime minister and European Commission president during his trip.
