In the Euro 2016, Switzerland will open up against Albania in a Group A encounter. Former national team keeper Diego Benaglio will not be on the squad, as the Wolfsburg shot-stopper has retired from international duty. But he did have the time to discuss his country's chances at the event with us when the Wolfves were in China to play Changchun Yatai ahead of the continental showpiece.

An experienced goalkeeper for Switzerland, Diego Benaglio has been playing with the national team since he was first called up in 2006, but he will miss Euro 2016, after announcing his retirement from international duty two years ago.

The Swiss team returned to the European Championship, after not qualifying for the tournament in 2012. This time Benaglio hopes his countrymen will have a good time in France.

Having played an important role in the 2014 World Cup, Benaglio led Switzerland to the Round of 16 in Brazil. They fell to Argentina by a goal late in stoppage time. Even though the Swiss will not be playing the national team, he is paying close attention to coach Vladimir Petkovic's side at the showpiece in France. The team qualified for Euro 2016 after finishing second in Group E behind England.

Boasting a young squad led by 24-year-old Xherdan Shaqiri, the Swiss team will be expected to survive the Group Stage for the first time. They face off against hosts France, Romania, and debutants Albania.
