Bach was joined by Guo Jinlong on the left, the chairman of the 2022 Olympic organizing committee, and Liu Peng, the chairman of the Chinese Olympic committee, in unveiling the Olympic rings that were added to the monument late last month. The structure itself consists of five towers with heights ranging from 186 to 246.8 meters and the 18 meter high rings have been mounted on the tallest tower. Visitors can enter and go up the towers to viewing platforms that provide an excellent venue for sightseeing or environment monitoring.

In his speech, Bach touched on his hopes for a great 2022 Olympics while also sharing his confidence in the Rio Summer Games. The rings themselves are equipped with an automatic controlsystem that can monitor the speed and direction of the wind while adjusting the angel of the symbol.
