The shooting rampage in Orlando has been described as the worst mass shooting in the US.

One thing survivors recall is the shock. The bar was packed. The music was loud. People felt good. Then shots rang out.

"We get there around 11:45 had a great time, last call for alcohol 1:45, so we go to the bar. close our tabs, get some water, joke around with our bartender and friend. Then ten minutes later boom, boom, boom, three shots right there," said Joshua Mcgill, witness.

"We see people running, screaming, walking out by the back patio to get out of the club area."

Jose Datil saw the shooter and the shooter saw him.

"I heard the first couple of shots, and a youngster ran down, my neighbor ran down, and then I saw a guy coming out of a black van, a minivan and he had a rifle. He had a strap and he shot the valet parking guy. Then I tried to approach him and he started shooting at us and then the police came and it was a continuous shooting between them and after that he went inside," said Jose Datil, witness.

The alleged gunman, Omar Mateen was a 29-year-old security guard from Fort Pierce, Florida.

The FBI interviewed him twice but closed the investigation.

People inside the club, frantically messaged friends and family. Hours after police shot Mateen, people were still looking for missing friends.

"I already lost one. We are waiting for the press to release the names. We haven’t heard from a couple of people. We are just praying," said Xiomara Rodriguez, Pulse Club patron.

Survivor Josh McGill says he managed to save one of the wounded and take him to the hospital. McGill was one of the lucky ones. The blood on his shoes was someone else's.
