Chinese President Xi Jinping has spoken with his US counterpart Barack Obama, to extend his condolences over the deadly shooting rampage in the US city of Orlando.

On behalf of the Chinese government and the Chinese people, Xi expressed deep sympathy and sincere condolences to the country, as well as the US people. He also expressed grief in respect to the victims of the terror attack.

In the aftermath of the incident, the Chinese Embassy in the US issued a notice warning Chinese citizens to be vigilant. At least 50 people were killed and 53 others wounded in the mass shooting at a nightclub early Sunday in Orlando, Florida. It was the deadliest terror attack in the US since the 911 terror attacks in 2001.
