06-17-2016 19:40 BJT

Want to know what if feels like during space travel? You might like to follow these four Chinese volunteers. They are kicking off a six-month-long living experiment in an enclosed space capsule on the ground, as part of China's deep-space exploration plan.

The Astronaut Center of China says it will observe the volunteers' lives in a controlled environment, in separated compartment capsules in southern Shenzhen.

The four men and one woman will breath recycled air and drink recycled water. They have to plant their own food. The aim is to collect data on sleeping and emotional changes during long-distance space expeditions.

The four volunteers were chosen after a year-long selection process, from an initial two thousand candidates.
