China and Poland have enjoyed a long history of friendship and cooperation in a wide range of areas since bilateral diplomatic ties were established in 1949. The two countries lifted their relationship to strategic partnership in 2011.

Poland now is the biggest trading partner of China in Central Eastern Europe, and China is the country's third largest source of imports and biggest trading partner in Asia. Bilateral trade volume hit US$17 billion last year, a 6-fold increase compared with 2004. Poland was also the first country in the region to support and become a member of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
