And the Euro 2016 hosts France were busy preparing on Saturday for their next match against Switzerland as this pivotal encounter in Lille will determine the winner of Group A.

Le Bleus won the first of their two Euro titles on home soil in 1984, and have already sealed their place in the round of 16 following wins over Romania and Albania.

As long as they avoid defeat to Switzerland at Stade Pierre-Mauroy, Didier Deschamps' side will top the final Group A standings and potentially avoid one of the stronger nations in the next round.

Dimitri Payet has become a huge asset for the hosts, having scored in both of the first two matches.

"What he's shown all season long with West Ham United is consistent performances. He's able to produce a lot more. He's always had great technical ability, right foot and left foot. He's also gained confidence I think. He knows now that the top level is very demanding and he is really contributing a lot," said Dimitri Payet.

Victory over France could put Swiss on top of Group A

Following a 1-0 win over Albania in their opening game and a 1-1 draw with Romania, Switzerland are in touching distance of the round of 16. Vladimir Petkovic's side have a chance to seal that position in style when they face France. As well as taking them through, three points in Lille would also see Switzerland top Group A.

The other match in the group will feature Romania and Albania. Romania sit third with one point, while Albania are bottom and without a win.
