Ahead of his visit to Poland, President Xi Jinping has published an article titled "Setting Sail for Full Speed Progress of China-Poland Friendship". The piece was published in a leading Polish newspaper on Friday, and has drawn wide attention in Poland.

Established more than a century ago, Rzeczpospolita is one of the most influential newspapers in Poland.

Deputy editor-in-chief for Asia and Pacific region Rafal Tomanski participated in the translation of President Xi’s article.

"The article is titled "Setting Sail for Full Speed Progress of China-Poland Friendship", which I think means relations between the two countries are moving forward at full speed. The article used many verses to describe bilateral ties. Both nations have a time-honored and splendid culture. We can find similar poetic descriptions in the two countries' culture," said Rafal Tomanski, department editor-in-chief of Asia & Pacific Region, Rzeczpospolita.

In the op-ed, President Xi emphasized the so-called "16+1" cooperation between China and the 16 Central and Eastern European countries.

And for Tomanski, the "Belt and Road" initiative linking China and Europe offers great opportunities for Polish entrepreneurs.

"The cooperation covers a wide range of field including infrastructure construction, transportation, culture, education and academy. It is very important and very likely to be achieved," Rafal Tomanski said.

Businessmen in Poland also spoke highly of President Xi's speech.

According to them, China and Poland share much common ground and many complementary areas in the current development stage. Close Sino-Polish ties will not only benefit the people from both countries, but also facilitate cooperation between business circles.

"China and Poland have so many collaborative plans. I'm happy that Poland is a good partner of China in the Central and Eastern European region. I'm fully convinced that we will have more consolidated relations in the near future in virtue of the 'Belt and Road' Initiative. We open our door to China, which will extend farther in Europe. We are anticipating President Xi’s visit and expecting our bilateral friendship to remain deep and close as always in the past more than five decades," said Janusz Cieslak, President of Polish Business Club Association.
