Important news for the development of China's supercomputer. On Monday, the world's 500 fastest supercomputers were announced, with China's Sunway TaihuLight coming out on top.

The TaihuLight was built with domestically-produced processors and is capable of performing quadrillions of calculations per second. To put it simply, the capability of TaihuLight equals all the 7 billion people on the earth working with calculators for 32 years. It is five times faster than its US counterpart. This is the first time for an "entirely developed and made in China" supercomputer to top the rankings.

China now holds the No.1 and No.2 fastest supercomputers. The new system was installed at the National Supercomputing Center in Wuxi, Jiangsu, an eastern coastal province of China.
