The Japan Railway Company plans to debut its new luxury train in 2017. The high-end amenities include double-decker sleeper cars with private suites, and glass-walled observation spaces on both ends of the train. 

The luxury train will be champagne gold and have enough room to seat 34 passengers. The trip from Tokyo to Hokkaido takes 4 days and 3 nights, at a cost of around 7,600 USD.

Twilight Express Mizukaze is another deluxe excursion train traveling through western Japan. The ten-coach train is equipped with 3 private suites, and a private balcony.
