Apple said its iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were still available for sale in China after intellectual property regulators banned sales, saying the designs had infringed a patent held by a local company.

The case goes back to May 19, when regulators posted a notice on its website to ban sales of certain iPhone models in Beijing. So far the decision only covers Beijing. Some analysts say the lawsuit won't impact Apple sales in this crucial market. There are only two models involved in the case, and Apple is going to introduce the new iPhone this fall.

While some analysts warn that future lawsuits against Apple could take this case as a precedent, potentially influencing the outcomes of litigation elsewhere in China.
