China's president Xi Jinping is in the Uzbek capital Tashkent for the annual Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit. On the sidelines, he's held meetings with his counterparts from SCO members and observers.

During the meeting with Kazakhstan's Nursultan Nazarbayev, President Xi said collaboration has speeded up with a lot of achievements during the 5 years of the comprehensive strategic partnership. Nazarbayev said Kazakhstan firmly supports China's Belt and Road Initiative, and is willing to make joint efforts with China to ensure the healthy development of the SCO.

Xi discussed boosting cooperation with Afghanistan's Ashraf Ghani, in the energy, agriculture, and security sectors and infrastructure construction.

Xi told Belarus's Alexander Lukashenko, the two sides can speed up the development of key cooperation projects and intensify people-to-people exchanges. Lukashenko said Belarus is willing to cooperate with China and build a China-Belarus industrial park as a symbolic project along the modern Silk Road.
