The US men's national team could be without another superstar, as reports claim that LeBron James will not be suiting for the squad at the Rio Olympics. If the reports are true, he would join the likes of Steph Curry, Anthony Davis, and Chris Paul, who have decided against playing at the Games.
The claim was first reported by cleveland.com, and it cited James reluctance had to do with fatigue, as he has played an incredible amount of basketball over the last half a dozen years, going to the NBA Finals each of those six seasons, including this year's championship when he rallied Cleveland from a 3-1 deficit to beat Golden State.
The 31-year-old says his body just needs time to rest after playing so much basketball. James, helped guide the US to the Olympic title in the last two games -- 2008 in Beijing and 2012 in London Olympics. He was also part of the 2004 US team that settled for bronze in Athens and on the US team that finished third at the 2010 world championships in Japan. James is one of three men to play on three Olympic basketball teams and in 2012, he became one of the select few to win an NBA crown and Olympic gold in the same year.
