The scaled-down version of a multi-purpose spacecraft re-entry capsule of the Long March7 carrier rocket will return to the Dongfeng Landing Site on Sunday afternoon.

It is expected to fly in the space for some 20 hours, and then separate from the upper stage of the rocket. The re-entry capsule weighs about 2,600 kilograms and measures 2.6 meters in diameter. The Dongfeng Landing Site is located in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in north China.

It will used for the first time in a manned space flight project, and this will also be the first case for China to adopt a desert hinterland as the landing site of a re-entry capsule. The capsule is expected to land in a square area stretching 36 kilometres in length side.
