Full coverage: Summer Davos Forum 2016

It’s Day One of the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2016 in Tianjin. 1,700 participants from 90 countries, including global policy-makers, top business leaders, and technology pioneers, are descending upon the Chinese port city to talk about everything from fintech, virtual reality, climate change, to the “new normal” of emerging markets.

China's 2016 presidency of the G20 Summit in Hangzhou also figures high on the agenda.

Participants are brainstorming to find new drivers for growth, how to improve international cooperation following Brexit, and reform global governance bodies.

We are not allowed to film this session here, but talked to a few people coming out of the meeting.

The upcoming G20 summit, hosted in the first week of September, has become China's biggest international event of the year.

It will gather together world leaders like Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Barack Obama.

China has assumed the rotating presidency of the G20 at a time when the outlook for global growth looks grim and Brexit has rattled financial markets.

The world economy grew by just over 3 percent last year, its slowest rate since the depths of the crisis in 2009.

Forums like the Summer Davos are an opportunity for taking forward all these issues and pave the way for the G20 discussions in the fall.
