The giant panda Xinxin has given birth to twin cubs, a first for the region. Xinxin and her first cub are in good health.

Her second cub is in intensive care because it is underweight. The gender of the cubs has yet to be ascertained. 

Xinxin and a male panda named Kaikai were sent to Macao last year from the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in Sichuan province. They were a gift from China’s central government. 

The two cubs are now under 24-hour observation.
