Calicut (or Guli in Mandarin) was an important hub in the overall links between China and Kerala, India. An Indian scholar makes a visual representation of his research on China-Indian cultural-historical communications.

Spanning over two years of research, and nearly 20000 kilometers of fieldwork across India and China, the film Guli's Children tries to bring out the ties between Kerala and China, and the physical artifacts as traces of human genealogy that survive even today.
