In China's Guangdong province, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is under construction and the team is about to begin work to link the final segment in this massive project.

It is the final sprint for the mega-size sea bridge. Workers have been checking every process ahead of the upcoming linkage. Seven years into construction, the bridge project is entering a critical phase. The bridge authority says preparations are going smoothly.

"We have a detailed plan of daily tasks for the recent month and we stick to it strictly. We've had two big coordination meetings within the last month. It’s a crucial time for us,” said Zhang Jinwen, engineering director of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Authority.

Engineers have also been monitoring the weather, waiting for the best time to begin the work.

The bridge closure will take place at midnight, that's mainly due to the weather. In the daytime, the average temperature at the construction site usually reaches 35 degrees Celsius, so workers have to wait till night when the temperature drops to around 22, more suitable for the closure process.

Just hours to go now before the linkage. The 50-kilometer-long project links the southern economic hub of Guangdong province to the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macao, and it will be the world’s longest sea bridge when completed.
