China’s weather authority is alerting southern Chinese provinces of a new round of heavy rainfall over the next four days.

The National Meteorological Center has issued a yellow weather alert for rainstorms, the third highest on a four-tiered weather alert scale. Some areas will experience rainfall intensity between 200 and 350 millimeters.

In the past two days, the weather service of Guizhou province issued several alerts for rain. In Tongren city, heavy rains triggered floods, forcing schools to close. Some residents were trapped at their houses by rising floodwaters.

In Hubei province, torrential rains inundated crops and caused waters in a number of reservoirs passing the alert level.
