Tens of thousands of people have taken to the streets of London to protest against the outcome of last week’s Brexit referendum, which could ultimately see Britain leave the European Union.

The march on parliament brought to a close a tumultuous week in British politics amid an atmosphere of crisis.

The Bank of England governor Mark Carney says he is doing all he can to minimize the impact of Brexit on the economy, with a policy of monetary easing and a hint that interest rates could be reduced to zero percent.

These people here though want a second referendum, saying the electorate did not realize the full impact that Brexit would have.

However, this march takes place against a backdrop of political upheaval with a leadership election in the party of government and a leadership crisis in the official opposition. And the UK has not even begun the difficult negotiations that will ultimately decide its new relationship with the European Union.
