It's just a month away till the opening ceremony of the Rio Olympics.

The Brazilian city has been dealing with numerous issues, a political crisis, security threats, violence, and the Zika virus -- all things that officials have had to overcome in preparing for the multi-sport spectacle. Officials say they are ready to host the world for the opening ceremony set for August fifth at the Maracana stadium.

Workers at the venues are finishing the last details to have everything ready before next month's opening gala. According to the officials, a massive cleanup of the sporting arenas will start July 15th. Athletes will have access to all venues July 24th.

The key road linking the Olympic Park in the west of the city to the Deodoro Sporting complex is now ready for use. The new roadway will cut travel time between the two parts of the city, and it will be open to accredited vehicles during the Games. The BRT will only carry spectators.

According to the officials, after Rio's state budget was being reworked, the new subway connecting downtown Rio to the Olympic Village will be ready. Metro Rio's Line 4 is one of the main transportation legacies the Games will leave for the host city.

With prospects to bring plenty of cash, the first "Mega" souvenir shop has opened on Copacabana beach. The 18-thousand square-meter layout is one of three massive stores. However with the financial crisis the country is facing, some wonder how many items will be sold.
