It features the famous River in Xinjiang Uygure Autonomous Region which is the longest inland river in China and the second largest in the world. Situated in the north of the dry Tarim Basin with an area of one million square kilometers, it acts as way to safeguard the economy, nature and the life of all ethnic groups in the region. This has earned it the nickname of “The River of Life”, and sometimes "The Mother River".

The documentary shows its special geographic location, fancy drought-prone scenic spots, rich folk features and its time-honored historical and cultural heritage. "Tarim River" aired on Xinjiang TV on July 1st and will soon be brought to a wider audience on CCTV.
