The African Fashion Week has concluded in Lagos. The event attracted around 60 designers from across the continent to the Nigerian capital.

This year's event was yet another chance for African designers to showcase their creative pieces.
More than 10-thousand shoppers attended the event with over 100 brands exhibiting their intepretations of African fashion.
According to the organizers, the event which is in its fifth year now provides a platform for the exposure of Africa's fashion industry.

"The whole point of the Africa Fashion Week is to discover talents. There are so many undiscovered talents in Nigeria and Africa. There are quite creative people but nobody to push them. hence the AFWN was created by Ronke Ademiluyi," said Yetty Ogunnubi, public relations officer, AFWN.

As African designers continue to influence style and fashion trends across the world, fashion in Africa is lending itself to many new influences. Many designers are looking to push forward more edgy and risky looks.

"It is pretty exciting to come here because it is one way of getting to expose your talents and your products to almost the rest of the world because it is a very huge platform right now," said Anita Beryl, Ugandan designer.

Africa Fashion Week Nigeria promotes the beauty of Africa, from the creative side of fashion to the business side of it. It was launched in London in 2011.
