NBA: Nowitzki rejoins Mavericks, Gasol goes to Spurs

NBA stars continue to cash-in during the free-agency period. With the salary cap increasing by more than 20-million dollars, and that means more money is available, and teams are willing to spend. A couple notable foreign players are the latest to sign big deals. As veterans Dirk Nowitzki and Pau Gasol, have signed deals as they look to make a little bank before the end of their careers.

Disco Dirk has agreed to a two-year, 40-million-dollar deal to remain with the Dallas Mavericks. The German turned down his player option for the upcoming season which would have paid him eight-point-six million bucks, in order to sign this deal. The 38-year-old has spent his entire 18-year career with the Mavericks and ranks sixth on the NBA's all-time scoring list with 29,491 career points. He also led them to their only NBA title in 2011.

And Pau Gasol has made a verbal deal to join the San Antonio Spurs. That deal is for two-years, and 30-million dollars. The Spaniard spent the past two seasons with the Chicago Bulls, earning all-star nods both seasons. This will be Gasol's fourh team, as he had stints in memphis, and with the Lakers. His most succesful time on the floor was with L-A, where he won two NBA titles in 2009 and 2010. Internationally he has won two silver medals for Spain at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics and will play in next month's Rio Games for his country.
