An increasing number of global leaders have expressed their support for China's stance on the South China Sea issue. Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hong Lei says China welcomes international voices of reason and China's decision not to participate in the arbitration and not to accept the tribunal's disputed opinion remains unchanged.

"In the wake of the Philippines' unilaterally initiated arbitration, many countries and international communities have expressed support for China's stance on resolving the dispute through bilateral negotiations. They think that all parties concerned should abide by the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea. They have also expressed concern over the arbitration tribunal's abuse of power and think the arbitration does not help maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea. And as we have pointed out many times before, China will never accept any recourse to a third party settlement, or any kind of dispute settlement that is imposed upon it," Hong Lei said.
