The British public inquiry into the nation's role in the 2003 Iraq War has published their 2.8 million word report. Sir John Chilcot, who led the inquiry, said Britain's plans for managing the Iraqi occupation following the 2003 invasion were "wholly inadequate".

With a month to go before the start of the Rio 2016 Olympics, Brazil's National Public Security Force -- made up of elite police and military officers -- has assumed control of safety in and around the city's sports venues.

President Xi Jinping has ordered the PLA and the armed police force to send more troops to support flood control and disaster relief in areas battered by rainstorms. Premier Li Keqiang arrived in Wuhan, the capital city of central China's Hubei province, to command relief and rescue operations.
