Syria's state news agency SANA reports the newly-formed Syrian government was sworn in before President Bashar al-Assad on Monday. Assad stressed the new government should focus on improving the livelihood of the people.

He encouraged enhancing economic reform to stabilize prices and exchange rates. He said the government should also improve its transparency, and punish corruption. Assad endorsed the new government earlier this month, which maintained many of its original ministers. Former minister of electricity Imad Khamis was named as new prime minister on June 22nd. The new government didn't include any home-based opposition figures.
