Stage four of the Silk Way Rally is traversing through Kazakstan.

Stephane Peterhansel, who has made his name with success at the Dakar Rally, would lead the cars classification and challenge the special area of grassland and hilly roads.

Sebastien Loeb driving in a Peugeot has won nine World Rally Championships, but makes a mistake trying to navigate the course, that would prove costly. The French driver finds it hard to cope with the narrow tracks and finishes the day in third place.

He's taken over by Russian Vladimir Vasilyev, who takes advantage on the straightaways on the grassland and finishes second.

Vasilyev would be more than six minutes and 22 seconds behind the winner of the stage Stephane Peterhansel. The Peugeot driver began the day in eighth place and follows the trace left by the cars ahead. After puncturing a tire in the previous two stages, Peterhansel overcomes the special road conditions to win the race and goes to top of the overall car standings.

In the truck's category, China's Hou Hongning shows his best performance so far this campaign. He's able to finish third in the stage, five minutes and 59 seconds behind leader Eduard Nikolaev.

The Russian driver runs out a winner in stage four, thanks to his all-black Kamaz. Stage five covers 821.1 kilometers with areas of dust and broken stones.
