Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has said China is willing to strengthen cooperation with Mongolia and forge closer ties during his visit to the country.

Li said during talks with Mongolia’s prime minister, Jargaltulga Erdenebat, that the two countries should complement each other economically and that new opportunities are available to deepen cooperation. He said China is ready to dovetail its Belt and Road Initiative with Mongolia’s Steppe Road program. He added that China is willing to start a feasibility study on a free trade pact with Mongolia.

Erdenebat said his new government is committed to maintaining traditional ties with China and pushing forward a comprehensive strategic partnership.
