We move over to the European continent for results from Stage 15 of the Tour de France that took the riders through a brutal passage in the Jura mountains. In a leg filled with multiple attempts to unsettle overall leader Chris Froome, it would be Colombian rider Jalinson Pantano crossing the finish line first to claim the most important win of his career.

Sunday's stage might have been a relatively short 160 kilometres, but it featured six categorized climbs, and with hardly any flat stretches, there were plenty of attacks but only a few skirmishes between the main contenders.

Polish rider Rafal Majka was at the centre of most of the action and he received the most aggressive rider award and had the privilege of pulling on the polka dot jersey at the end of the day. But that wasn't enough to win the stage as he finished second.

Majka almost crashed on the descent from the final climb and his brief stumble allowed the 27 year old Pantano to catch him.

But the pair didn't collaborate well in the approach to the finish, and Frenchman Alexis Vuillermoz almost caught them, but Pantano proved the strongest and he crossed the line first in a time of 4 hours, 24 minutes and 49 seconds.

It was a first ever stage win at the Tour de France for his IAM Cycling team.

The General Classification leader Froome finished a little more than three minutes off the pace in a group which included the other main contenders.

Defending champion Froome kept his 1 minute and 47 second lead over Dutch rider Bauke Mollema intact, with Britain's Adam Yates in third place overall, 2 minutes 45 back. Colombian climber Nairo Quintana, lags almost three minutes behind while Alejandro Valverde rounds out the top five.
