China’s Ministry of Commerce has released key data on the country's trade and investment in the first half of this year.

For foreign direct investment, Chinese domestic shareholders invested in around 4,800 overseas enterprises, with investments totalling almost 90-billion US dollars.

Inbound investment to China continues to grow. The number of new foreign-invested enterprises has reached 13,000.

Foreign investment in China is almost 70-billion US dollars, with an annual growth rate of just over 5 per cent.

Investments in both high-tech services and high-tech manufacturing have seen the biggest increase.

"Investments drawn by the high-tech services and manufacturing sectors have increased. In the high-tech service sector, foreign investment in information technology services has increased three-fold. And investment in the pharmaceutical manufacturing sector has doubled on a year-on-year basis," said Shen Danyang, spokesman of China's Ministry of Commerce.
