China to send 416 athletes to Rio Olympics

China has released the final list of its delegation for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio.

This year’s delegation is the largest ever: 416 athletes from 20 regions will compete in 26 major sports, including basketball, badminton, gymnastics, and golf. The youngest athlete is 14-year-old swimmer Ai Yanhan, while 39-year-old markswoman Chen Ying is the oldest.

More than three-quarters are making their Olympic debut and join 35 previous Olympic champions, such as Lin Dan, Sun Yang, and Wu Minxia. Noted swimmer Ning Zetao, who had been rumored to miss the Games, is also on the list.
