The European Union launched a third legal challenge to Chinese restrictions on exports of raw materials on Tuesday. The bloc joins the United States in action against Beijing at the World Trade Organization.

The EU has done similar legal actions in 2012 and 2014. But this time, the bloc is focusing on raw materials including graphite, cobalt, copper, lead, chromium, and magnesia.

The European Commission criticized China for imposing export restrictions for these products on companies outside China.

The EU complaint came just a week after the US took a similar step and accused China for violating its WTO commitments and giving unfair advantage to its local manufacturers.
