Q1: After the tribunal released its so-called award, the Chinese government issued the Statement on China's Territorial Sovereignty and Maritime Rights and Interests in the South China Sea, and China's State Council Information Office published a white paper entitled "China Adheres to the Position of Settling Through Negotiation the Relevant Disputes Between China and the Philippines in the South China Sea". From these moves, what stance dose China want to show the world?
Q2: China's ambassador to the United Kingdom says the relationship between China and the Philippines should not be impeded. Meanwhile its new president Rodrigo Duterte has also showed willingness to hold direct talks with China. How should China build its ties with the Philippines?
