26 people, 10 male and 16 female, have died after a tour bus caught fire and then crashed into a guardrail near the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport on Tuesday afternoon.

24 of them were tourists from northeast China's Liaoning Province.

Taiwan media reports suggest the emergency exit doors on the bus were blocked by the guardrail, preventing them from opening after the crash.

The identities of the 24 Chinese mainland victims have been released.

Three of them were teenagers. One of them was 12 years old, and the other two were 13 years old.

The oldest victim was 73 years old.

Some reports say the tour group was going to fly back to the northeastern city of Dalian at 4:30 p.m. as originally planned.

Another two victims were a driver and a tour guide from Taiwan.

The tour was organized by Liaoning Overseas Travel Service Company. The Liaoning Provincial tourism bureau said it has set up a team to investigate the incident and is trying to verify the names of all the people who registered with the company for the tour.

The tourist firm is licensed to organize tours in Taiwan, said an official with the provincial tourism bureau.

The State Council Taiwan Affairs Office is set to dispatch representatives to Taiwan to help the victims' families deal with the aftermath, according to a statement.
