Authorities in southern China remain on high alert as rescue operations continue to those affected by heavy floods.

In the southwestern municipality of Chongqing, heavy floods inundated roads and stranded commuters. Dozens of visitors trapped at a local tourist attraction were rescued.

In Dangyang county of Hubei Province, rescuers rushed to evacuate trapped residents.

In Zongyang county of Anhui Province, water levels on a major lake rose beyond the safe level. Local government officials and rescue teams were ordered to prepare for any emergency.
