The "1992 Consensus" is the political foundation for peaceful cross-Strait ties, says spokesperson of the State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office, Ma Xiaoguang.
As he urged Taiwan to adhere to the one-China principle, he also said that only by sticking to the 1992 consensus, that the two sides can ensure peaceful and stable development of cross-Strait ties.
Ma made the remarks during a daily press briefing, in response to a question arising from Taiwan leader Tsai Ing-wen's recent interview with the Washington Post.
